Subscribe from your calendar app

The calendar feed lets you see your Good Coach App schedule inside your own calendar app — Google Calendar, Apple/iCloud Calendar, Outlook, or anything that accepts a subscription link. Once you subscribe, your planned workouts, competitions, training breaks and other dated items show up next to the rest of your life, without opening Good Coach App.

It's one-way and read-only: Good Coach App → your calendar. Editing an item in your calendar app changes nothing in Good Coach App, and your calendar shows the last week plus everything coming up, not your full history.

Your calendar app refreshes on its own schedule, so changes you make in Good Coach App appear automatically after a while (see Good to know below).

Who gets which feed

You get a feed that matches your role:

  • Athletes get an athlete feed — your own training schedule.
  • Coaches get a coach feed — an overview across the athletes you work with.

Each feed has its own private subscription link. If you're both a coach and an athlete in different places, each role has its own separate feed and link.

What's in your feed

Athlete feed

Everything you'd see on your own calendar in the app, looking forward:

ItemIncludedNotes
Workout plansOnly published plans. Drafts your coach hasn't finished are never shown.
NotesNotes your coach shared with you, and your own notes — but not ones you marked private.
CompetitionsWith the event's location where available.
Assessments
Training breaksShown as a multi-day event across the whole break.
Coach eventsThe events your coach scheduled that are visible to you, shown at their actual time.

Your athlete feed does not put your name in the event titles — it's your own calendar, so titles stay clean (e.g. "Interval run", "Competition: City 10K").

Coach feed

A forward-looking overview across the athletes you coach, so you can see key dates for your whole roster in one place:

ItemIncludedNotes
CompetitionsFor every athlete you coach.
Training breaksFor every athlete you coach — dates only; the reason and type stay on the athlete's own feed.
DeadlinesThe dates you track per athlete (e.g. payment due, certificate expiry).
Coach eventsEvents you created, including coach-only events and events tied to a specific athlete.
Workout plansNot included — too many across a full roster to be useful in a calendar.
Notes / assessmentsNot included.

Because a coach feed spans many people, every event title starts with the athlete's name (e.g. "Anna Kowalska — Competition: City 10K"), so you can tell at a glance whose date it is.

Which athletes appear follows your role in each club — the same set of athletes you see in the app. If you stop coaching an athlete, they drop out of your feed automatically on the next refresh.

How events look in your calendar

  • All-day by default. Workout plans, competitions, assessments, deadlines and notes appear as all-day items on their date.
  • Coach events show at their scheduled time (with a default length of one hour when no end time is set).
  • Training breaks span the whole break — a break from Monday to Friday shows as one event covering Monday through Friday.
  • Details are in the event. A workout plan shows its description, a training break on your own feed shows its reason, and a coach event shows its description — so you can read them without opening the app.
  • All-day items don't mark you "busy" — a day full of workouts won't block your availability for meetings. Timed coach sessions do occupy their slot.
  • Everything is in your language — event labels follow your Good Coach App language setting.

Opening an event in Good Coach App

Every event carries a link back to Good Coach App in its notes, so you can go from a calendar entry to the app in one tap:

  • The link is in the event's notes. Open the event and tap the "Open in Good Coach App" link — it works the same way in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook.
  • On the Good Coach App app, it opens the exact entry. Tapping the link opens the app straight to that workout, note, assessment or competition — and in a coach feed, switches to the right athlete first, so it's right in front of you. Training breaks, coach events and deadlines open the app on the right day instead of a specific item.
  • On desktop or in a browser, it opens Good Coach App. Without the Good Coach App app installed, the link opens the Good Coach App calendar in your browser — from there, navigate to the date yourself.
  • Competitions also link to the race. For a competition, the notes include a link to the race's own website (when we know it) alongside the "Open in Good Coach App" link. If the race has GPS coordinates, your calendar app can also navigate you to the start.

How to subscribe

You subscribe once, in your calendar app, using the personal link from Good Coach App.

Google Calendar

  1. In Good Coach App, open Calendar settings and copy your feed link.
  2. In Google Calendar: Other calendars → From URL.
  3. Paste the link and add it.

Apple / iCloud Calendar

  1. Copy your feed link (or use the Subscribe in Apple Calendar option).
  2. Apple opens a Subscribe prompt — confirm it.
  3. Choose how often it refreshes.

Outlook / other apps Use Subscribe from web / Add calendar from URL and paste the link.

One link, every app

The same standard link works in every major calendar app — there's nothing app-specific to set up on Good Coach App's side.

🎬 GIF to record: Copy the feed link in Good Coach App settings, paste it into Google Calendar's "From URL", and the calendar appears in the list.

Managing your feed

  • Subscribe / get your link — generates your personal calendar link.
  • Generate a new link — replaces your link with a fresh one. Use this if you ever shared the link by accident. The old link stops working immediately, so you'll need to re-subscribe with the new one in your calendar app. (The old subscription doesn't disappear on its own — it just goes empty until you remove it.)
  • Cancel — turns the feed off. The link stops delivering data.
Cancelling can't remove the calendar from your phone

After you cancel, the now-empty "Good Coach App" calendar stays listed in your calendar app until you remove it there by hand — cancelling in Good Coach App can't delete it from your device.

Privacy & security

  • Your link is the key. It contains a long, random token and no personal details (no name, email or ID). Anyone who has the link can see the feed's contents, so treat it like a password — don't post it publicly. If it leaks, use Generate a new link.
  • Always matches your permissions. The feed shows exactly what you're allowed to see, re-checked every time your calendar app pulls it. When a coaching relationship ends, the related items drop out automatically.
  • Independent of your login. Logging out or changing your password does not break the feed. Deleting your account does turn it off.
  • Coach feed and athlete data. A coach feed lists dates for your athletes — name, event type and dates. It never carries note contents, and for a training break it shows neither the reason nor the type (injury, illness, and so on): those health details stay on the athlete's own feed, because a coach feed travels over a subscription link.

Good to know

Changes aren't instant

Calendar apps refresh subscriptions on their own schedule, and you don't control how often — it can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or more (Google in particular can be slow to poll), while Apple lets you pick the interval. This is normal for all subscribed calendars, not specific to Good Coach App. If a coach moves a workout, give it time to appear.

  • The feed is empty. Either nothing is scheduled ahead, or the link was cancelled or replaced. A cancelled or old link always returns an empty calendar rather than an error.
  • Can I edit events from my calendar? No — it's one-way. Make changes in Good Coach App and they'll flow to your calendar on the next refresh.
  • Where's my past training? The feed keeps the last 7 days so recently finished sessions don't suddenly vanish, but it doesn't carry your full history.
  • A note isn't showing. Notes you marked private are never sent to the feed — they stay in the app. (Draft workout plans your coach hasn't published yet are held back the same way.)
  • One colour for everything. A subscribed calendar is shown in a single colour chosen by your calendar app. That's why event titles include the type (Competition, Deadline, Training break).
